Figlio in Uptown

Two posts in one day! I'm just that good.

So I didn't go to Figlio today, but I went last weekend. It wasn't my first time, but every time I go I'm always happy with what I get! Located in uptown, the chic bistro offers some fabulous martinis and yummy food. Happy hours are 4-7 at the bar and weekends 12-7. This includes house wines and beer and a myriad of appetizers.

This past time I went with Lindsay and Susan and ordered Ruby Cosmo and sweet potato fries. SO GOOD. Every martini I've gotten there has been real tasty. Linds also got the artichoke dip which never fails at Figlio. Prices aren't too bad, especially during happy hour!!

Ahoy There!!

Hey all, back for another post.

So last Saturday, myself and some fellow NSACer's (Susan included) went out on Mr. Tsang's boat, Wind Dance. Sail boat to be exact. Last time I went sailing was during a family trip to Door County, WI. Very different experience. It was really cold and cloudy, and no matter how much I willed the sun to come out, it refused.

It was still a fabulous time, and I learned what a "boom" is (spelling?!). It's the thing that holds the sail up and can wack you in the head if you are taller than 5' 4". Luckily I missed the cutoff by about 2 inches.

Lake Minnetonka is really beautiful and odd. The lake is comprised of several smaller ones and it looks like someone just kind of splattered it on the earth. If it was warmer out I might have made the plunge, despite my disgust of lake water. Apparently it is the place to be during Minnesota's summers. I swear, every other person you meet in the state owns a cabin on a lake or a boat.

After galavanting on the lake, we went to Sunsets in Wayzata for an awesome lunch. Best tomato soup and artichoke dip I've had in a while!! Slightly pricey if you are a poor college student, but it was worth it.

Done for now. Back later for more adventures.

Welcome to the Animal Kingdom

So I know I've been slacking on my blogs- be nice I'm a virgin blogger. So two Thursday's ago I went to the Minnesota Zoo. I hadn't been there since I was real little (probably first grade), back when I lived in Apple Valley. It's changed a lot since then, let me tell you. It's massive. The weather was perfect when Mike and I went, and besides the swarms of elementary school kids it was a great time.

I was slightly disappointed in the lack of basic animals in the zoo. No lions, bears, giraffes, or elephants. Real weird! The place to be was at the Monkey Pen. Buggers are crazy, apparently they jump all over the trees for attention. It was pretty entertaining. Another cool thing to do there is see the dolphin show. You'll have to deal with little kids screaming at the dolphins, but otherwise its a good time. Notice how I'm not real big on kids (just loud ones!!). I also pet a shark while I was there!

That's about it for the zoo. Post comments and I'll be your best friend!

And so it begins...

Welcome to my very first blog!

This summer will be my first in Minneapolis. The purpose of this blog is to note all of the places/events I may go to. Restaurants, concerts (if my roommate has anything to say about it), destinations and stores that I visit this summer will be documented and discussed.

Cross your fingers my camera gets fixed this week and I can add some pictures!
